In Ancient times in China, the Dragon was considered the King of Heavenly Deities while the Phoenix was often referred to as the Queen of birds. It was believed “when the Dragon soars and the Phoenix dances, the people will enjoy happiness for years, bringing peace and tranquility to all under heaven .

Ever since the First Emperor of China (221-206 BC), a symbol of the ruler was the Dragon, while the phoenix became an embodiment of his mate. Highly revered and appreciated, images of dragons and phoenixes found their way onto ceremonial jade ornaments as well as objects of everyday use--representing reverence for the spirits and desire for auspicious fortune. It is with such adulation that Tibaldi has created these mystical animals as a pair symbolizing prosperity and virtue to all who possess them.
The fountain pen is hand painted with a mighty portrait of the Dragon on the barrel, while the body of the rollerball boasts an elegant image of the Phoenix, each skilfully painted by noted artist Lorena Straffi. The two masterpieces are available only as a set, of which only 99 have been produced worldwide.
The fountain pen is enhanced with Tibaldi’s large 18 kt gold nib, available in M, F and B. Rotating the pen’s blind cap while filling the pen feels and sounds like winding the crown of a fine watch. Tibaldi’s patented filling mechanism applies a slight resistance to rotation, avoiding brusque movements at the bottom of the pen and reducing the risk of accidental leakages.

A transparent window reveals the ink level on all Tibaldi fountain pens. Each two-tone nib is crafted from solid 18-carat yellow gold and then covered in rhodium and ruthenium, available in M, F, B and XF. Strictly limited to 550 fountain pens and 550 rollerballs worldwide, as a match to the 550 specially appointed Brooklands autos being produced by Bentley Motors.
