Omas presents the second Limited edition of the *La Citta* collection, the Alhamra! Inspired by the ornate palace, the Alhambra has become a symbol of the city of Grenada. Erected between 1238 and 1527, the facade reflects the various cultures that have been present over the centuries. Decorated with precious enamel and Arabic engravings in the azulejo design identical to those that adorn the palace, you can travel to the *red fortress* without leaving your front door. The handmade and fine engravings of this limited edition enhance the preciousness of the barrel. The Arabic arch-shaped knob evokes the decorative pattern of the Alhambra. Even open, the limited edition shows the same preciousness and elegance thanks to the finely engraved ring of the grip section. The 18kt gold nib is embellished with an engraved detail of the barrel pattern.
The cone-shaped top of the cap shows the pantograph engraving *O* of OMAS and a rhombus pattern which is used in both azulejos and internal colonnades of the Alhambra. The rollerball version is embellished with a finely engraved section. The limited edition is crafted in gold vermeil (gold plating over .925 sterling silver) with a blue cotton resin and blue enamel, with orange enamel on the clip. The box depicts the entry portal of the Alhambra and is a symbolic invitation to enter this fascinating universe. Thanks also to the plexiglass shutters, the box, where the pen can stand vertical, works as a display as well.

The Conquest of Istanbul Limited Edition
The history of every civilization bears life and order-changing moments. Treaties are signed and lands are exchanged. between two or more parties. Often, battles are fought and blood is shed, which may hand all the power to a single leader. The conquest of Constantinople in 1453 is one of these major events. When Mehmed II ascended the throne in 1451 he had devoted himself to empowering the Ottoman navy, and in the same year made preparations to conquer Constantinople. First, he erected the fortress of Rumelihisarý opposite the fortress of Anadoluhisarý which had been built by his great-grandfather. When the fortress was completed, he proceeded to levy a toll on ships passing within reach of their cannon, the new tool of intelligent war tactics. During the conquest, a Venetian vessel refusing signals to stop, was sunk with a single shot. Mehmed II had managed to make use of the cannon to the best of its capabilities. In the Conquest of Constantinople by Mehmed II, his ability to implement thought into action is representative of his *pen* being mightier than his *sword*. Today, what stands against and fights the wither of time is not a cannon but a pen...the perfect pen, which reflects the character of the penman; that slides into the hand like a feather and glides across the paper with no effort at all. The perfect pen could be one that is tributed to a significant event such as the Conquest of Constantinople that represents the power of thoughts and words. The perfect pen is also carefully mastered to emphasize the importance of a leader’s signature. The body of this perfect pen is adorned with two eloquent reliefed medallions which represent the city of Constantinople and Mehmed II, the Conqueror, while the top of the cap bears the inscription of Mehmed II. The domed knob of the pen depicts the magnificent dome of the Hagia Sophia; otherwise known as the Holy Wisdom, which still continues to be a unique landmark of the city of Istanbul. The dome of the Hagia Sophia is engraved on the 18 carat gold nib. 1453, the year on which Constantinople was conquered, is emphasized on the barrel.. Omas has arduously hand-crafted 1453 pieces; of which 1000 are piston filling fountain pens and 453 are rollerballs, in .925 sterling silver with yellow gold vermeil treatment, of which the barrel and caps are coated with black enamel.

Five years later, the 12-sided Arte Italiana collection established itself itself as the icon of Italian Design in the world of luxury writing instruments. The Arte Italiana has never gone out of production! The Fusion Limited Edition, through the Arte Italiana profile, is a tribute not just to this writing instrument and for Sir Armando Simoni’s talent, but a tribute to Omas’s history, always interpreted by the noble materials which exalt the design and importance of each extraordinary OMAS writing instruments. This extraordinary collectible item, melds part of Omas’s past and present and has been produced using all the natural materials used in its own masterpieces: Cotton Resin, Celluloid, Wood, Titanium, Gold and Silver.
Black Cotton Resin is of vegetable origin and pleasant to the touch. It is resilient and has a very shiny surface allowing excellent colour definition.
Wood is extremely sensual and precious, rare and valuable, and requires a long and accurate hand-crafting process. The Black Ebony Wood selected for the Fusion is an exceptional and definitely refined material. Celluloid enabled Armando Simoni to work with incredibly beautiful shades and provides the best of those qualities required in the making of a perfect fountain pen: lightness, resistance to impact and pressure, resistance to heat, no reaction to ink, very pleasing to the touch and bright refined colours. Depending on the model, production of celluloid could exceed 350 days. The refined tonality of the Fusion Celluloid is the Mother-of-Pearl Grey, with its deep and delicate shades.
The concept of what is precious has changed over the years, adapting to different technical revolutions. With its Titanium models, Omas orchestrated the meeting of high-tech and pure tradition. After two years of design and engineering, the Titanium models were launched in 2000 with T2, an extremely pure form of Titanium.

SOLAIA LIMITED EDITION - Omas Homage to Marchesi Antinori
Omas confirms its own passion for the world of wine with its new Limited Edition, dedicated to the prestigious Italian wine tradition, which pays homage to Marchesi Antinori’s seventeenth-century history. Omas and Marchesi Antinori, both symbolize the refined exclusiveness of Italian products, reflecting similar values in their handcrafted tradition, with attention to testing and innovation. The *wine* origin of the Antinori family dates to 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became part of the *Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri*. Since then, 26 generations have managed the business with unwavering respect for tradition and the land. Today, Marchese Piero Antinori together with his three daughters, perpetuate Marchesi Antinori’s spirit, tradition, passion, and deep-seated values which made this wine house one of the main Italian producers of quality wine. In 1978 Solaia was first produced almost accidentally, thanks to Marchese Piero’s intuition. It was the first Italian wine elected *Wine of the Year* in 2000 by Wine Spectator Magazine and continues to increase in popularity worldwide. The Oak Wood of the Marchesi Antinori barrels, where the precious wine has aged for years, produced in the Tignanello Estate in Tuscany, form the body of the Solaia Limited Edition. Elegant engravings recall the world of this noble wine: the family coat of arms and the vine plant dominate the cap surface. The shape of the wine barrel douelle is skillfully recalled in the rounded clip. Recalling the first historical Solaia wine year, there are 1,978 pieces in the Edition: 1,200 piston filling Fountain Pens and 778 Rollerballs. The box, inspired by the Solaia wine packaging, exalts the beauty and the splendor of the precious writing instrument.

The Silk Way refers to the network of caravan and trade routes, covering approximately 8,000 km over land and sea, and along rivers, along which trade flowed in Antiquity between the Chinese Empires and the West. For centuries, caravans of camels loaded with silk passed along it. For a long time, China kept the secret of how this valuable material was manufactured, thus guaranteeing a monopoly of this highly prized product which found purchasers as far away as the Roman Empire in the west. The name “Silk Way” appeared for the first time in 1877, when the German geographer Ferdinand von Richthofen published his work Tagebucher aus China. This Limited Edition pays homage to this route which condenses in a single expression centuries of history and events which have marked the destiny of peoples and cultures. Made entirely of solid silver, on the surface of which can be seen meticulous enamel decorations of the most representative elements of the historic route. On the cap, embellished with a jade tip, is masterly microfusion and enamel work symbolizing the overland journey completed by the caravans of camels across the desert. The clip, like the 18 kt gold nib, is decorated with the arabesques which appear on the flag of the “Serenissima” Republic of Venice, the homeland of Marco Polo, the most famous traveller between West and East. In contrast, the reservoir represents the geography of the sea routes which connected the West, starting from the Venetian lagoon, to the East and the coasts of China and Indonesia. Even today, the Silk Way is synonymous with exoticism, adventure, cultural exchange and travel to distant lands. In further tribute to the German text which memorialized the Silk Way in the year 1877, a total of 1877 writing instruments have been produced: 1,000 piston-fill fountain pens and 877 rollerballs.

Forty years ago, the American crew of the Apollo 11 space mission conquered the Moon and OMAS now dedicates this precious limited edition to this unforgettable event in the history of Mankind. Neil Armstrong was the first man to set foot on the Moon’s surface, speaking the famous line:”That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for Mankind”. Having then achieved a technological goal that also held poetic meaning, OMAS now wishes to celebrate the new prospectives that Mankind has to think beyond its own limits. The ogival shape of the MOON 1969 collection, gracefully retro, recalls the space and technological shapes of the 60’s and 70’s. The pen barrel is representative of the Moon’s surface, and the astronauts’ footprints appear in three dimension. The tiny carving on the clip represents the flight path of Apollo 11. The earth, covered with water over two-thirds of its surface, is represented by the lapis laquer hand-crafted to the cap, highlighted by a precious lapis lazuli stone. 1000 fountain pens and 969 rollerballs, for a total edition of 1969, celebrate the year of the Moon landing date. When, during his long journey of exploration by sea, the great British scientist Charles Darwin started taking notes which he subsequently used in his treatise “ON THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES”, on the evolution of living species, he wrote the words: “I think”.
Omas is dedicating this Limited Edition to the words I think and to one of the fundamental stages of the study of the evolution of life in this, the 200th anniversary of the author's birth and the 150th anniversary of the book's publication. “I think” is an act of will which puts man at the center of everything. With its Limited Edition, Omas underlines the fact that writing too is a fundamental aspect of the growth of civilization: it is with writing that thoughts take shape.
The engravinging on the sterling silver overlay represents the voyage which Darwin made across the oceans aboard the British brig HMS Beagle, which saw him make his decisive scientific discoveries in the Galapagos Islands. The route taken by HMS Beagle is faithfully reproduced on the reservoir of the pen. The fine engraving is made using the island technique, performed with a hand-controlled pantograph, which allows extremely thin and accurate marks to be drawn, tracing the continents and a naval map dating from 1800. Looking at the pen through a magnifying glass, you can read text and see details which cannot be seen by the naked eye. It is painstaking work, which suggests how attention and research can discover things which are not apparently visible.
On the top of the cap a drawing of a mockingbird has been engraved: it was in fact the different varieties of this creature found in the different islands which suggested that the mutations had come about from a single original specimen. The same thing happened in the analysis of the other species whose footprints are reproduced on the clip: turtle, marine iguana, land iguana, lava lizard, flamingo, gannet and gecko. On the ring of the cap is a design of the structure of DNA , the nucleic acid which contains genetic information, to represent the future after Darwin. Indeed, its discovery was the fruit of nearly a century's work by other scientists in the wake of Darwin's theories. The body of the fountain pen is embellished with 4 twists of hawser, the cable used for docking ships. The whole body of “I think” could not be made from anything other than oak, being the wood used to make the sailing ships of the time and, thus, HMS Beagle itself. The “I think” Limited Edition in sterling silver is comprised of a total number of 1809 pens, (representing the year of Charles Darwin's birth):
1000 piston-fill fountain pens and 809 rollerballs. The fountain pen is enhanced with an 18 kt gold nib.

During 2008, the number of personal computers reached one billion world-wide! The new Omas Limited Edition celebrates this event. While the acceptance of the PC seemed to foretell the gradual disappearance of the pleasure of writing by hand, in actual fact, the emergence of the High Tech world has paradoxically encouraged the rediscovery of the uniqueness and emotion which hand-writing can provide. The PC collection has been made in treated aluminium, paying homage to one of the most commonly used materials in the High Tech environment, and gives the pen weight and ideal balance while writing.
The 360 profile, which has been a design icon, has been reinterpreted with a guilloché decoration: the two front sides give a detail of the design of the first hard disk made in 1956; while the clip represents a stylized form of an abacus used in 1200 AD. The third side shows a detail of the design of the CRAY X1 Supercomputer, created in 2003 and capable of carrying out 52.4 thousand billions of operations a second. The incisions on the nib-holder and grip represent Greek and Roman calculation tables from 500 BC to 500 AD. Finally, the OMAS nib presents the stylized form of a ruler used in 1650. The fountain pen is piston-fill and the 18 kt gold nib is available in M, F, EF and B widths. This Limited Edition comprises 1,008 Fountain Pens and 1,000 Rollerballs, the sum of which - 2008 - represents the year of this epochal event.

THE FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX-FROM GREECE TO CHINA
…A mythological bird which never dies, the Phoenix flies long distances ahead of us, observing with its sharp eyes the countryside around us and the area ahead.
It represents our visual capacity to gather sensory information on the environment around us and on the events which unfurl within it. The Phoenix, with its perfect beauty, produces an amazing exaltation combined with the dream of immortality…from The Feng Shui Handbook, Feng Shui Master Lam Kam Chuen.
Only in the aura of mystery surrounding it is the Chinese Phoenix similar to the mythical Egyptian bird which continually rises from its own ashes. It represents the power and prosperity which were the exclusive attributes of the emperor and empress, the only people allowed to wear the symbol of the Feng.
It is portrayed in many ways, often with the forehead of a crane, the beak of a wild bird, the neck of a snake, the shell of a tortoise, the stripes of a dragon and the tail of a fish, held to be the finest attributes of these animals, and is the personification of the primordial forces of the Heavens.
In its beak, it carries the sacred texts, on its body are written the Five Cardinal Virtues, its song contains the five notes of the Chinese musical scale and its tail has the five primary colours: blue (the East, spring and wood), red (the South, summer and fire), white (the West, autumn, metal), black (the North, winter and water), and yellow (the Centre, the emperor and earth). The two yang colours, blue and red, are balanced with the yin colours, white and black.
The enamel Phoenix, elegant and proud, which dominates the reservoir of these exquisite writing instruments, copies this faithfully.
The body of the pen too, which comes in four versions, offers four of these colours. However, the metal for the finishings changes: the yellow enamel is combined with platinum, the red with gold, the blue with silver, and the white with bronze.
On the top there is a beautiful jade of an intense green which recalls the green of the plumage.
The highly original clip is inspired by movement and harmony. The Phoenix flies from Greece to China, from the Parthenon skillfully reproduced on the cap, to the Summer Palace, symbolically miniaturized on the nib, bringing together for the Olympics two great civilisations whose influence has been fundamental to the development of humanity.Though geographically distant, they have both given the world wisdom, philosophy, art and innovation. Fountain pens are piston fill with 18 kt gold nibs.

In 1914 the prestigious car manufacturer Maserati was established in Bologna, subsequently re-locating to Modena. Also founded in Bologna, in 1925, was OMAS, the historic Italian company producing luxury pens. Elegance, luxury, prestige, exclusivity and a passion for excellence are values which both Maserati and Omas express in their strictly Italian-made products.
An exciting journey, involving close creative collaboration, has led to the production of the exclusive “Omas for Maserati” Limited Edition made of .925 sterling silver. It is a clever interpretation of the sportsmanship and elegance of Maserati's technical features with the craftsmanship expressed in the exclusive stylistic details of Omas pens. The “Front grill”, Maserati's historic emblem, is mounted in the top of the cap with its aerodynamic design, inspired by the most innovative Maserati automobile: the GranTurismo. As if designed by the wind, the tapered shiny clip, in contrast to the satin finish of the cap, separates the side vents skilfully engraved on the sides of the cap. The satin finish barrel of the Limited Edition is enriched with elegant incisions which, as on the cap, emphasize the conical shape. The shiny turning knob, in the traditional hexagonal shape, operates the piston filling unit in the fountain pen model and is embellished by a bas-relief engraving of the Trident. The shiny grip section, also made of sterling silver, highlights the engraving of the Maserati logo. The nib is made of 18 kt, rhodium-plated gold.

Samo, a fountain pen by Omas underlines the first steps of the visual signs left by the Hellenic civilization combining luxury, culture and design. The clip, elongated beyond the cap and bearing the engravings of Omas and Samo, represents the idealized bridge uniting East and West.
Made in a numbered certified limited edition of 572 pieces in solid silver. 572 represents the birth year of the famous Samos son, Pythagoras.

It was during the reign of John II that the first dedicated bullfighting rings were built in Spain. It is a pastime that has had both support and opposition from the authorities through the ages and which has inspired poets such as Garcia Lorca, painters such as Picasso and writers of the calibre of Hemingway.
Today the Tauromaquia still takes place in Spain and to a lesser extent in Mexico and Portugal. The event consists of fighting with a bull, usually reared on a special farm, according to a passionate and intense ritual. Folklore, colours and music merge into one to create an incredible contrast of a fight to the death between man and beast and the suspended silence of the final act.
It is not easy to recreate this drama and the emotions of participants and spectators using a pen, yet when held between the fingers, it soon becomes apparent that the small but precise images take nothing away from the tension engulfing the scene. Man and beast scrutinise each other as the final moment draws near, the moment when victory is achieved or defeat suffered.
The figure of the bullfighter is elegant, the position perfect. The clothing is adorned with the symbols of luck and courage worn by valiant performers.
The face is hidden but the concentration and determination are easy to imagine.
The use of enamel and precious metal on this superb fountain pen dedicated to a sophisticated yet primeval struggle evoke the dominant colours of the bullfight: the red, purple and bright yellow cape, the powerful black bull and the orange colour of the sand and sun.
The pen is fitted with an 18 carat gold nib engraved with flowers to symbolise harmony and light.
The top of the cap is made from natural horn and has been left deliberately simple, austere even, to symbolise the arena with its external arcade, internal terracing and the central part of the space used for the fight itself.

The drawings are simple yet incisive and full of pathos, an unusual choice to adorn a prestigious fountain pen. The design is inspired by the evocative language but simple construction in the apparently uncomplicated works of Alexsandr S. Pushkin, to whom this OMAS masterpiece is dedicated. The subtle gold or silver wires bordering the drawings not only enhance the patterns but also serve as a reminder of the complex texture of the great writer's stories. Pushkin's work, partly autobiographical, did much to inform the wider world of Russian culture, history, thatre, philosophy, nature and way of life.
The warm color of the gold or the brightness of the silver and distinguished enamel, reminiscent of the paper used for manuscripts, acts as a background to the images. These depict the head of the poet surrounded by 16 diamonds on the top of the cap, a page from Eugene Onegin, created using diamond engraving techniques and a symbolic goose feather on the clip. Pushkin's face, based on a self-portrait, can also be found in the middle of the ink reservoir with clouds above and the generous human earth below. Like his face, Pushkin's name can also be found twice: in the Cyrillic alphabet at one end of the fountain pen and in signature form on the body. The pen is enhanced with OMAS's 18 kt gold nib, engraved with Pushkin's date of birth, piston filling.

Celebrating the refined tradition of Japanese Manga--the artform of stylized, simple lines whose characters rely more upon visual impact than dialogue. Blue vegetal resin and sterling silver form the body of the Miku ( the future who has yet to come ), and richly-colored enameling illustrates the self-confidence and detachment of the girl, as well as the provocative simplicity of her garments. The piston-filler fountain pen is topped with a rhodinized 18k gold nib and is enclosed in a blue lacquered wooden collector's box. Limited edition of 405, the arithmetical difference between the year 1600, when the first manga were drawn, and 2005, the birth of Omas's Manga Collection.

The Russian Empire celebrates the influences over time which generated the culture of the Russian Empire. A limited edition of 801 pieces in 925 Vermeil commemorates the year 1801, when Alexander I was elected Emperor, and 48 pieces in 18k solid gold refer to his life (1777-1825). The piston-filler fountain pen bears a cap with ornate chisels on the head and a curved clip with two lions heads, alluding to Egyptian divinity and a style, when combined with the Italian Renaissance and the Baroque period, revealed the splendour and grandeur of Russian architecture and art. The barrel features four medallions illustrating the patriotic war of 1812 along with a shield of Victory. Black enamel and vegetal resin provide the contrast. With 18k gold nib.
