Esterbrook | Estie Accutron Collection
.
In 1858, Richard Esterbrook, an immigrant to the United States, founded the Esterbrook Pen Company. At its height, Esterbrook was the largest pen manufacturer in the United States, employing over 600 people. A little over 15 years later, the Bohemian-born U.S. entrepreneur Joseph Bulova founded the J. Bulova Watch Company, still a leading maker of fine timepieces. While Charles Schultz penned his Peanuts comics with Esterbrook fountain pens, Bulova created the Accutron watch imprint. The release of the Accutron watch in 1960 marked the advent of the modern mechanical watch with its movement, which used a tuning fork rather than a balance wheel, was the precursor of the modern quartz movement. In 1975, Accutron became the first watch to make it to the Moon. In 2021, the entrepreneurial spirit of Esterbrook and Accutron unite in a new Esterbrook fountain pen that honors the legacy of Accutron. The Esterbrook Accutron is made of an Estie body of proprietary DiamondCast acrylic of *Accutron Green* blended in gold and diamond dust, a pattern that Accutron proudly calls *tie dye*, harkening to their rise to prominence in the 1960s and 70s. Gold-plated body rings, cap clip, and threading complement the green and gold body, and the word ACCUTRON is stamped at the cap lip in gold foil. The Fountain Pen is enhanced with a Medium width, gold plated, stainless steel nib. Cartridge/converter fill with the converter included.
