Our first release of 2021 is an homage to a momentous Italian work of art. To commemorate the 700th anniversary of the death of one of literature’s greatest figures, we are inaugurating a new collector series with Dante Alighieri: Inferno. This spectacular first edition from the Divina Commedia series. Completed in 1320, Dante’s Divine Comedy is an epic narrative poem divided in three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso. Over 14,233 lines of rhyming verse, Dante embarks on a 6-day voyage that describes the journey of the soul towards God. Inferno is Dante’s most famous work, and vividly charts his descent into hell and his renunciation of sin.
From top disc to blindcap, Dante Alighieri: Inferno illustrates the poet’s voyage with intricate lost-wax casting. Between the mysterious, hand-enamelled forest where Dante’s journey begins, and the devil’s realm, our craftspeople have recreated each of hell’s nine circles: limbo; lust; gluttony; greed; wrath; heresy; violence; fraud and treachery. A pocket-clip evoking Lucifer’s tail appears to exit through the cap after extending through the entire length of the pen. Built around a core of Montegrappite, sterling silver versions are made in editions of 333 fountain pens and rollerballs, while an 18K gold edition comprises 9 examples in each mode. Edition sizes reference the extraordinary patterns found throughout the Divine Comedy. Fountain pens are piston-fed, with an 18K gold nib (EF, F, M, B, BB, Stub 1.1) customised with Dante’s profile and paired with an ebonite feed

Announcing a special, two-volume limited edition for the 85th anniversary of the world’s favorite board game. While there is much to admire and share about both pen designs, the edition’s most noticeable feature is its innovative custom packaging. Each piece arrives within a fully functional, deluxe MONOPOLY gameboard (500x500mm) supplied with eight sterling-silver player tokens. Pens are housed discreetly beneath the board. MONOPOLY was created by Parker Brothers and launched in the U.S. market on 5 November 1935. 85 years later, its presence within the global consumer goods and pop culture landscape is extraordinary. A seemingly infinite number of game editions and brand extensions exist – reflecting the game’s universal brand awareness and cross-generational appeal. In recent years, MONOPOLY’s timeless visual identity and high-roller style have made it a popular choice for star fashion and luxury brands, whose campaigns have been enthusiastically embraced by lifestyle media. Coach received considerable attention for a $1,500 leather-bound playset released in 2015. The story of ‘MONOPOLY with bling’ is one that many media outlets are willing to tell. Few Montegrappa limited editions have been more charming or engaging. Both designs succeed by remaining faithful to the essence of the game, with obvious luxury upgrades. Far more than being a prestige accessory for game aficionados, MONOPOLY L.E. is a trophy for any self-proclaimed tycoon. Created under license to Hasbro, The MONOPOLY L.E. collection comprises two volumes: MONOPOLY: 85TH ANNIVERSARY and MONOPOLY: MR. MONOPOLY. Both share the same essential specifications: perforated, precious-metal sheaths around a resin core, with gemstone detailing and a custom clip. Each volume has a unique body deco and uses different resin colors in the sterling-silver variant (red for 85TH ANNIVERSARY; vintage mint for MR. MONOPOLY). Sterling-silver editions (85 pieces of each volume, in FP and RB options) feature zirconia, while 18K gold editions (8 FP, 5 RB for each volume) are encrusted with diamonds. The 85TH ANNIVERSARY volume contains additional gemstone detailing on its barrel.
Fountain pens are piston-fill, and fitted with 6mm 18K gold nibs – customized for each volume: 85TH ANNIVERSARY fountain pens are etched with the MONOPOLY dollar symbol, while the MR. MONOPOLY edition features its mascot’s top hat and mustache.
Nib sizes available are EF, F, M, B, BB & 1.1 Stub.

2020 SEA SHEPHERD AND MONTEGRAPPA TOAST PARTNERSHIP: AND A RARE VICTORY
Following her sinking, the Essex’s twenty-strong crew found themselves stranded more than 1,200 nautical miles from land. When their ordeal ended, only eleven remained. Victory of the Whale’s circling sea of turquoise celluloid evokes their terrifying plight. A new Montegrappa Limited Edition marks a symbolic moment of resistance to mankind’s plundering of the oceans. This first collaboration with Sea Shepherd uses repurposed materials and historical records to highlight the continued struggle to halt illegal whaling. Signature elements are cast from the propeller of Sea Shepherd’s former flagship, M/Y Steve Irwin. Recovered materials provide a tactile connection to years of front- line activism. Handcrafted mahogany and bronze evoke the Essex’s hull, harpoons and whaleboats, while a black band flies Sea Shepherd’s rejigged Jolly Roger flag: a last line of defense between whale and whaler. The bicentenary of the Essex sinking is referenced by editions of 200 fountain pens and 200 rollerballs. Individual numbering is etched in bronze alongside the Victory of the Whale legend. The Fountain pen is enhanced with a 18kt gold nib. Piston Fill. The collection is completed with a matching rollerball.

A new objet ’art from Montegrappa combines radiant textures and precious metals in celebration of divine authority. A meticulous lost-wax casting of Moses upon Mount Sinai is surrounded by Judaic and Christian motifs from Europe’s leading religious and cultural sites. A pocket-clip inspired by Michelangelo and a barrel carved from artisanal resin are luxurious counterpoints to pious design and craftsmanship. Every pen tells a story. The figure of the prophet from Gustave Doré’s ‘Moses Breaking the Tablets of the Law’ is framed by ornamentations from the Spanish Synagogue in Prague. Features from Michelangelo’s Moses at Italy’s Church of San Pietro in Vincoli are interpreted into a clip that stands majestically above shimmering, hand-carved lengths of Montegrappite. This exclusive new artisanal resin offers confident handle, while avoiding the sins of conventional industrial acrylics. Handmade from precious metals and Montegrappite, The Ten Commandments L.E. is a small-batch Special Edition that celebrates shared beliefs. Its cross-denominational design is realized using the very best of ancient and modern Italian craftsmanship. The Ten Commandments is engraved into the crown in both Hebrew and English. The pen’s finial disc and barrel are carved from Montegrappa’s new proprietary artisanal resin. Boasting shimmering optics and confident handle, Montegrappite is made by hand only miles from Italy’s home of handwriting. Small batches are patiently mixed, poured and cured, before lathing reveals textures only nature can design. Boutique production repays the favor, ensuring less wastage and new recycled blends. The Limited-edition fountain pens are equipped with Montegrappa’s patented piston-fill and supplied with an 18K gold filigree nib with ebonite feed and is available in M,F,XF,B,BB, and stub.

This year marks the 200th anniversary of the discovery of the legendary sculpture on the island of Melos in 1820. This masterpiece of craftsmanship and beauty – an effigy of Aphrodite or Amphitrite – has been recreated for a new limited fountain pen and rollerball release.
The three-dimensional figure encircling the barrel is made from Italian marble. Creating this piece requires ultra-fine marble ‘flour’, formed into a clay and molded before drying and hardening. This is a process pioneered on the Antonio Canova (Genio Creativo, 2017). Its casting in miniature captures all the perfection – and imperfections – of the original 2,100-year-old sculpture.
A spring-loaded clip is cast from bronze with baroque ornamentations, while metal trims recall the stature and detailing of Greek columns. The Venus de Milo can be ordered in variants of bronze and 18K yellow gold. Cap, blind cap and section are made from black, high-density acrylic.
The fountain pen is piston-fed and uses a 6mm, 18K gold nib (EF, F, M, B, BB, Stub), personalized with an engraved outline of the Venus de Milo and the Montegrappa script logo.
Special packaging uses laminated marbled papers and features coloring and detailing that captures the ambience of the sculpture’s location within the Louvre Museum.

The first-ever Montegrappa carved from stone combines mystique and engineering intrigue. It is made from lapis lazuli - a mineral mined in the mountains of Afghanistan for more than 6,000 years. Its deep-blue tone and golden flecks have made it an object of desire for many civilisations: the ancient Egyptians revered its healing properties and celestial appearance.
Lapis lazuli is described in ancient references as sapphirus or sapphire and is a material used in both traditional and contemporary jewellery. Preparing the stone for the Extra Otto Sapphirus required the development of special diamond-cutting techniques and a carbon-fibre core for strength and lightness.
The edition of 192 pieces represents the chapters comprising the Book of the Dead: works of ancient Egyptianliterature describing transition to the afterlife. It exists in fountain pen mode only, with an 18K gold nib, (EF, F, M, B, with ebonite feeder and piston filling. Rose gold-plated sterling silver trims feature the Montegrappa insignia between figures of the Eye of Horus and winged scarab.
Special packaging is supplied courtesy of a deluxe Extra wooden case with custom plaque, custom booklet and a bottle of ink.

Following the box-office and Oscars success of Bohemian Rhapsody, Montegrappa’s newest Icons Series edition is Queen: A Night at the Opera Limited Edition created in collaboration with Queen founding members, Brian May and Roger Taylor. Queen has been riding a wave of renewed popularity since the release of the blockbuster biopic last October. Now on streaming services, Bohemian Rhapsody has been a sensation with millennial and Generation Z audiences – while giving mature music fans plenty of reason to feel nostalgic and proud of their own cultural legacy. Queen was a massive presence in the seventies and eighties, but have always remained strong, thanks to a catalogue of songs with deep foundations in popular culture – from sport (We Are the Champions) to gender identity (I Want to Break Free) and Wayne’s World.
The song, Bohemian Rhapsody, was released in 1975 on the album A Night at the Opera. The album’s cover art features the legendary Queen Crest – a logo designed by Freddie Mercury that has been reproduced around the barrel using lost-wax casting. Numerous other design features reference Freddie Mercury’s iconic stage presence – etched into legend by Queen’s 1985 performance at Wembley Stadium for Live Aid. The pen’s core is made of resin to enable enamel detailing.
Available in sterling silver with gold plate and a crown studded with blue sapphires, rubies and diamonds, the edition comprises 555 fountain pens (piston-fed, 18kt gold nib with Queen Crest engraving in F, M, and B widths) and 555 rollerballs. Ca. 2000 BCE the Egyptians considered marshmallows so sacred that they were reserved for Pharaohs and Gods. In the mid-nineteenth century marshmallows were so popular that French patisseries could not keep up with the demand for the fluffy bon bons. Today, we associate marshmallows with wintry treats and cups of cocoa, both hallmarks of the holiday season.
Limited to 100 pieces, this Limited Edition Elmo Marshmallow is evocative of all the things we love about marshmallows.
Snowflake white resin is dotted with the colors of vintage powder puffs, French macaroons, pastel hued gelati, circus cotton candy and a fruity medley of strawberry, lemon and lime mini marshmallows.
The Elmo Marshmallow celebrates all that is sweet about this confection and the festive season. It will delight and enchant all who add it to their fountain pen collection.
Using the #6 JoWo steel nib unit, it is wonderfully smooth and wet.

LORD OF THE RINGS Limited Edition.
Hot on the heels of Montegrappa’s Game of Thrones release arrives a new chapter in Montegrappa’s continuing affair with fantasy….the Lord of the Rings Limited Edition. This seminal work of fantasy needs little introduction. J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic trilogy is estimated to have sold more than 150 million copies since publication in 1954-55. Meanwhile Sir Peter Jackson’s blockbuster movie trilogy (2001-03) grossed $3 billion, while winning 475 international awards. It is, quite simply, a franchise at the very pinnacle of fantasy and geek culture. A new production for television is currently in development in one of Hollywood’s most secretive projects, but Montegrappa has chosen to focus on the legend of the movie trilogy as that clearly dictates public perception of Tolkien’s work. The Lord of the Rings Limited Edition features a charcoal celluloid core enveloped by a lost-wax casting in sterling silver. From the hand-enamelled Eye of Sauron hovering ominously within its cap, down to detailed reproductions of Fellowship regalia around its barrel, aficionados of Middle-earth will find much in this limited edition to tempt them. Most precious of all is a replica of the One Ring, in gold vermeil, provided in place of a conventional cap band, which can be left on the pen, or removed to be worn or carried.
The piston-fill fountain pen features an 18kt Gold nib available in EF, F, M, B, BB and Stub 1.1mm widths and is decorated in gold leaf with J.R.R. Tolkien’s notable monogram – a symbol featured on the spine of all his books. This Edition of 379 Fountain Pens and 379 Rollerballs refers to the batches of rings forged for elves, dwarves and men.

The sense of having too little time is a symptom of modern life, which is why our newest limited edition goes further than usual to afford writers the magical, modern luxury of slowing time down. Time & Brain follows Brain (2013) and Memory (2016), as the final limited edition made in collaboration with the celebrated neurologist, Dr Richard Restak. Alongside its many overt references to time, Time & Brain is conceived on an oblique set of design codes that reveal the hidden complexity of the present as a station between the future and past. An unconventional triple-section barrel refers to the three phases of time. The 3mm height of its separator ring represents three seconds - the cut-off point at which all humans have a shared perception of time. The miniature hourglass housed within the blind cap is made of high tempered glass and measures a timespan of approximately three seconds - an analogy for the present. The four pillars protecting the hourglass are labelled Time, Atoms, Brain and Thought: a representation of the passage of time from cosmological phenomenon to tool of human perception. While these precision-engineered parts provide the most obvious clues to Time & Brain's motif, every detail of its modern silhouette refers to our need to keep track of time - and the subtle superpowers that enable us to process past, present and future.
Lose yourself in the moment with Time & Brain's combination of intricately ornamented precious metals, acrylic resin and cerebral intrigue. Quantities limited to 300 Sterling Silver Rollerballs and piston-fill Fountain Pens with 18kt Gold nibs in EF, F, M and B widths.

Montegrappa's Tech Revolution
Following the amazing success of Q1,Montegrappa's radical take on the way multiple colors can be accommodated in a single pen, Italy's oldest manufacturer of fine writing instruments has again had a re-think about how pens operate, taking its time literally, revolver is the latest limited edition in the cult series, a favorite collection among pen enthusiasts who value innovation.
An outsized pen of impressive girth, its voluminous body is made in burnished stainless steel. The handle segment of the body, or the barrel , is crafted in a 4200-year old bog oak selected to match and complement in the dark, earthy colors of the piston pen, providing contrasting accents to its near black presence are details fashioned in gold plated brass, to enrich the design in the manner of highlighted nails and bullet heads.
Playing with the concept, revolver contains 10 perfectly formed but utterly fake bullets , numbered from 0 to 9. As the name and form intimate, within the pen mechanism and discernible from the outside is an old-style gun's drum, containing the bullet sockets, on the outside, there is a fully functional trigger that acts as a brake for the drum, a sardonic take on a game of Russian roulette. Among the accessories provided with revolver is the magnetically--fitted bullet stick , delivered with the pen, with which to extract the bullets. Another exceptional novelty for this limited edition is the unique filing system, the subject of an international patent, named the power-push mechanism which acts like an automatic piston.
Revolver is treasured in a luxury wooden box, which also includes two ink bottles in a black and red color.
CEO Giuseppe Aquila comments, Montegrappa is NOT in favor of weapons, revolver, on the other hand, is about the nostalgia of toy guns. This pen satisfies because it is nothing less than a triumph of memories, mechanical engineering and amusing functionality.
Revolver will be available only in a limited run of 300 fountain pens, its nib is made of 18k gold with an ebonite feeder and is offered in the grades of fine, medium and broad. Whether intended for the gun collector, the pen aficionado or simply one who appreciates technical originality, revolver will be certain to start conversations.

REACHES FOR THE MOON LIMITED EDITION. 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of NASA landing on the Moon. It represents one of mankind’s greatest achievements, defining the USA as the victor in the space race with an accomplishment to rank with Christopher Columbus discovering the New World. Inspired by the Apollo 11 mission that delivered astronauts to the lunar surface, in a licensed collaboration with NASA, Montegrappa has reproduced the iconic Saturn V rocket, interpreted as a writing instrument. The Moon Landing Collection, made in white pearlized resin with sterling silver trim, adorned with enamel to reproduce a three-dimensional trompe l’oeil effect of the First, Second and Third stages of the rocket body. Around the First Stage are the legend USA, the American national flag, laser-cut and enamel-filled in exquisite detail. The pen cap is structured to represent the Second Stage and the Apollo command module, with the silver lost-wax signature clip, cast in the form of the stairway structure supporting the rocket. Completing the realization of a Saturn V in miniature, the blind (end) cap is reproduced with the exhaust nozzles of the engines of the space-craft, detailed with red enamel. The fountain pen is piston-fed, and its nib is crafted in 18kt gold. By turning the bottom part of the pen barrel sideways, the Saturn V pen opens up its mid-section, to reveal its inner filling mechanism, augmented by a lunette-aperture showing the ink inside. Montegrappa has issued 363 numbered fountain pens in resin and Sterling Silver, the number denoting Saturn V’s height in feet when standing vertically. 110 numbered rollerball pens are offered in resin and Sterling Silver, as the equivalent of 363 feet is 110 meters.

The Leonardo da Vinci Pen
A tribute to the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death,
Montegrappa’ s Leonardo da Vinci collection consists of fountain and rollerball pens, each type limited to 500 unique, numbered writing instruments. The Leonardo da Vinci writing instruments are made in beautifully contrasting materials, binding nature with technology: fine, aged olive wood for the barrel and satin stainless steel with brass details for the pen cap and trim. The cap top is molded in the shape of a peg of the era in which Leonardo lived, representative as a principle element of construction and mechanics. The cap body and signature clip are made of stainless steel fashioned in fretworks according to da Vinci’s major geometric theories and concepts. The cap’s inner core is crafted in brass, the metal of choice for engineers during the time of da Vinci. Its intricate low-relief engravings represent some of his recurrent technical drawings. The pens’ grip section in stainless steel is decorated with laser etchings of Leonardo’s stereometric half-moons, the so-called transformations of the lunules. The fountain pen is piston-fed and its nib is made in 18k gold, available in M, F, XF, B and Stub. Further to convey an appreciation of Leonardo’s impact, the collection’s packaging is interactive. It houses a dissembled scale model of da Vinci’s fighting vehicle for the pen’s owner to construct.

Mia Carissima is fashioned from shiny Malachite Green resin with black accents and Sterling Silver trim. It is a reinterpretation of an historic Elmo pen that was available a century ago and originally produced entirely in ebonite. The new pen possesses a voluptuous form that presents a “simple” silhouette, a shape that fits perfectly in the hand.
Recalling the design languages of a century ago, the signature clip reflects and is strongly influenced by past fashion. Slightly fan-shaped, it features a design with linear etching that epitomises the earliest awakenings of what would become Art Deco. Mia Carissima’s nib is made in 18k gold, adorned with filigree decoration, and is available in the writing grades of Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, , Broad, and Stub 1.1.
This writing instrument also possesses a secret – a technical innovation that still excites pen connoisseurs thanks to complexity that precludes its usage from becoming widespread, even a century later. Characteristic for this fountain pen and true to its vintage inspiration is its “safety nib system.”
Through a special rotating mechanism, positioned inside the barrel, the nib is exposed when being used or retracted when not required. The original pen that inspired Mia Carissima, however, had to be filled with an eye-dropper, thus making the filling ritual rather laborious. It is for this reason that our engineers have developed a new filling system: for the new design, the ink supply is accommodated by an easy-to-replace, single cartridge.
Every special edition produced by Montegrappa is dear to the company, but few evoke so strongly the company’s formative years. Mia Carissima embodies the era of Hemingway and Dos Passos, the war that engulfed Europe and – most poignantly – the many thousands, or even millions of letters that allowed soldiers to communicate with those they left behind.

Heralding a new series of pens from Italy’s oldest manufacturer of fine writing instruments is Samurai, the first model in the Warriors collection, aimed at the most passionate of pen enthusiasts. Conceived to recognize the most noble combatants throughout history, those who fought to change the course of human events, Warriors will feature the most significant and intriguing soldiers the world has seen A milestone in pen manufacturing, Montegrappa’s Samurai presents a design challenge like none seen before. Limited to only 177 pens in sterling silver, each one unique, and a further seven in solid gold, the Samurai exists only as a push-system, piston-filled fountain pen, fitted with an 18k gold nib. It resides in a luxurious black lacquered box, with the ancient, original Chinese character for “Samurai” printed on top. Inside one will find the Samurai “doll” pen, accompanied by a bottle of ink and a Katana-sword accessory that acts as a fully-functional paper-cutting knife. The pen itself is a masterpiece of burnished sterling silver, a “truthful” model of an ancient samurai suit of armour made by cutting-edge developments of the ancient lost-wax technique, with certain design elements further embellished with rose gold-plated details. Continued examination of this work of art will reward the observer with a plethora of minuscule delights. Montegrappa’s artisans have reproduced the traditional “kuwagata” helmet, the “sode” shoulder and “kote” sleeve armour and the “tekko” arm and “suneate” thigh guards with the utmost accuracy and precision. The warrior’s “kusazuri” skirt is reproduced in multi-layered, embroidered fabric. A rare combination of writing instrument and decorative figurine, the Samurai’s cap forms the head, breast and arms of the soldier. The pen barrel comprises the figure’s lower limbs and the writing component’s juncture. Adding to the unparalleled intricacy, the hands and waist armour are hinged, so they are detachable, as are the limbs, for moving respectively. Both a thing of beauty and a functional object with the sophisticated appeal of a working miniature, the Samurai pen will prove as captivating as the noble warrior that inspired it. The fountain pen is enhanced with an 18kt gold nib, available in M, F, & B. Piston Fill.

In recognition of the appeal - both visual and practical - of cutting edge materials, Montegrappa is pleased to announce the Extra Hi-Tech.A contemporary version of the classic Extra 1930, made with materials prized for their technological merit, the Extra Hi-Tech features a dimpled cap and blind cap in solid aluminum. All trims, including the cap band, grip section, ring, thread and clip, with signature Montegrappa rolling ball end-piece, are fashioned from titanium. The barrel is formed of carbon fibre. The final pen exudes a sense of total modernity.Owing to the nature of the chosen materials, the Extra Hi-Tech offers a lighter weight that earlier models. It therefore presents itself as the perfect writing tool for those who write for long periods of time and for whom extra heft might be prohibitive. Once experienced, the sense of lightness and balance prove irresistible.Tradition returns with the working elements; the Extra Hi-Tech fountain pen is cartridge/converter-fill and is fitted with solid 18K gold nib with ebonite feed in sizes EF, F, M, and B. The Extra Hi-Tech will be offered as a limited edition of 250 Fountain pens and 250 Rollerballs.

Montegrappa Honors the Bad Boy of Tennis!
Among the families of pens created by Montegrappa, Icons pays homage to artists, performers, musicians, athletes, writers and others whose personalities transcended the fields in which they excelled and made their marks. Tennis legend Ilie Nãstase has now joined notables including Muhammad Ali, Pelé and Ayrton Senna.
There have been “bad boys” in professional tennis for decades, but the original – and still the most incorrigible – exemplar of the group is tennis great Ilie Nãstase, the controversial champion of the 1970s. The Romanian player was ranked world No. 1 from 23 August 1973 to 2 June 1974. Inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1991, Nãstase is one of ten in the history of the sport to win more than 100 ATP professional titles, including 68 singles and 45 in doubles.
Nãstase’s record makes him a stand-out by any measure, but his stature as an icon beyond the sport is based on his larger-than-life personality. Volatile, argumentative, a joker and mimic, he entertained with both his athletic prowess and his on-court behaviour. Appropriately in light of his “rock star” image, Maxim placed Nãstase at Number 6 on its Top Ten “Living Sex Legends” list.
The Ilie Nãstase Pen Collection
Offered as both a fountain pen and a rollerball, the pen’s body is made in a light-coloured wood recalling the tennis racquets of the Nãstase era, personalized with his signature in red colour. The fine details are fashioned in dark blue resin, with the final junction before the nib realized in the colours of the Romanian flag, to recall Ilie’s favourite elastic wrist-band worn during matches. Characteristic of the volatility of the Nãstase game is the unique signature clip and cap top, made of cast silver using the lost wax method. Its overall form is that of a tennis racquet, but the webbing itself rotates. One side shows a tennis ball making contact with the racquet, while the flip side shows Ilie’s mid-finger gesture, typical of his more nervous moments. The cap itself is clad in perforated brown leather, redolent of vintage tennis racquet grips. All Ilie Nãstase Pens feature trim in sterling silver, with the piston-filled fountain pen featuring a nib in 18kt gold, engraved with the Montegrappa octagon pattern.
The Ilie Nãstase Collection is limited to 780 Fountain Pens corresponding to the number of matches won in the male singles category, and 479 Rollerball Pens equaling the number of his doubles victories.

The Nazionale Flex Zebra Striped Celluloid limited edition is a faithful reproduction of Montegrappa’s original Nazionale model from the 1930’s which was also produced in celluloid. Today’s writing instrument is made in warm-looking, vintage zebra striped celluloid with black resin accents defining the edges of the pen body and is enriched with elegant Sterling Silver Art Deco trim. As the name suggests, the main feature of the new Nazionale Flex is its extraordinary flexible, solid 14kt Gold nib. Nibs of this type harken back to the Golden Age of Fountain Pens (1920s-40s) and are now eagerly sought by modern pen users. This exceptional nib, with cut-out shoulders, is available as Extra Fine or Fine and is a joy to write with. Depending on the pressure applied onto the nib by the user, the writing stroke will vary from narrow to very broad, offering a calligraphic result. It generally takes a level of experience with flexible nibs to achieve optimal results. Also in keeping with the era in which the original Nazionale fountain pen was born, the filling system of this re-incarnation is via piston only.
The edition is limited to strictly 100 fountain pens with Extra Fine nibs and 100 with Fine nibs.
The Nazionale Flex fountain pens come in a premium walnut packaging box with an ink bottle included.

To address the world's increasing concern for recycling, as well as the use of renewable materials, the new, premium Extra Riverwood collection looks to the past to ensure the future. Starting with the much admired Extra 1930 design, Montegrappa has retained the classic shape, the use of sterling silver trim, the signature clip with rotating sphere and the Greek fret design etched onto the cap's silver junction. From there the Extra Riverwood departs from the use of celluloid or resin. Instead, they have worked with a truly organic substance: a rare, aged oak log that is approximately 4,200 years old. This exceedingly precious timber is found buried in the earth, often under river beds. Choosing an archaeological, organic material that has been perfectly preserved for thousands of years creates a pen of unique tactility and beauty. The aged wood is characterized by its brownish-black color, with small, natural irregularities, establishing the validity of its authenticity, its origins and its history. Both fountain pens and rollerballs form the Extra Riverwood collection. As with all Extra 1930 pens, all trim is in sterling silver, while the piston-fill fountain pen has its 18kt gold, Greek fret motif-etched nib available in F, M and B widths.
For this inherently limited run of writing instruments, the production numbers will be determined by the availability of the oak log material. Montegrappa anticipates the availability of 100 fountain pens and 100 rollerballs.

For those of you who are in a romantic mood, please make sure not to miss Montegrappa's exclusive Limited Edition dedicated to Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Part of the highly sought after Genio Creativo series, the Tchaikovsky collection features fountain and rollerball pens, inspired by one of the most beautiful ballets of all times – the Swan Lake. Boasting shiny bodies in Ivory and/or Black resin with Sterling Silver trim, the pens are characterized by a flute-shaped clip and a slanting cap top crowned with the Sol key. A faithful reproduction of the original score from the overture of the Swan Lake is laser-engraved (and color-filled on the version with ivory barrel) on the pen barrels.
To honor this creative genius, Montegrappa has designed two special editions. The first pen, known as White Swan, is limited to 125 fountain pens and 125 rollerball pens, in recognition of the number of years since his death. The pen is made in Black resin for the cap and Ivory White resin for the barrel. It has been embellished with challenging laser-cut engravings of his portrait and signature on the cap, and an excerpt from Swan Lake’s music original score. Sterling Silver trim has been applied to each of the 125 pens, etched with a Montegrappa logo and his lifetime years on the cap ring. The blind cap is inscribed with the Limited-Edition number, while the signature clip resembles as a flute. The cap top is fashioned with a slanted cut, with the “Sol” key central, embellished by the light of a diamond. The fountain pen is cartridge/converter fill, converter is included. The nib is made in 18kt gold with a ballet-dancer from Swan Lake etched on its top. The pen is available in the writing grades of Fine, Medium and Broad.
The second limited, called Black Swan, consists of fountain and rollerball pens, with 1840 examples of each to represent the year of his birth. Matching the form of the first model, this edition features resin colored entirely in Black for both barrel and cap. Its “Sol” key is enriched with a Swarovski crystal stone, and the cap is engraved with Tchaikovsky’s signature, while the barrel features an excerpt from Swan Lake’s music original score.

To honour the world’s greatest artists, writers and thinkers, Montegrappa created the Genio Creativo series of pens. Each represents the achievements of an intellectual or artistic giant in a writing instrument that embodies the spirit of a specific work, as interpreted by Montegrappa’s artisans. Joining writer and philosopher Kahlil Gibran and the artist Vecellio Tiziano, known as Titian, is the sculptor ANTONIO CANOVA.
ANTONIO CANOVA (1 November 1757 – 13 October 1822) was an Italian sculptor famous for his work in marble. Often regarded as the greatest of the neoclassical artists, his work was inspired by the Baroque and the classical revival, but made more contemporary by dispensing with the melodrama of the former and adding a human element to the latter.
A limited edition of 260 fountain pens and 260 rollerball pens, the exact number of years since Canova’s birth will be offered with polished bronze trim, black resin and a pen barrel made in a special marble composite, depicting in miniature his famous sculpture The Graces, or “Le Grazie”. A further 12 fountain and 12 rollerball pens will be produced with solid 18k gold trim, representing the number of collaborators who worked with Canova.
Recalling the visual presence of Canova’s sculptures, the marble element is naturally grey. According to legend, Canova would pass over the freshly-chiselled, once-white stone with a cloth soaked with water, the same one used to wash the sculpting tools. The stone would absorb the dirt and acquire a more natural look.
Further details paying homage to Canova are the signature clip in the form of a pleated drape with which the artist used to clad his models, while the bronze or gold trim enriched with decorative motifs often crowning antique amphorae. The Genio Creativo Canova Fountain pen is piston-fed, and the nib is in 18k gold, engraved with the same symbol as the cap top, signifying the heraldic coat of arms of the family.

As the world celebrates the half-century that has passed since the Summer of Love, the circular symbol that embodied it – the peace sign – has increased in relevance. The peace sign, celebrating 60 years since its creation in 2018, is one of the most instantly-identifiable designs of the 20th century, pre-dating emojis, and inspiring a level of recognition that ranks it alongside the most celebrated of religious, social or political emblems. Its message is universal, positive and uplifting.
In the spirit of goodwill, the idea for the Pen of Peace was born on the occasion of a dinner hosted by Montegrappa, the guests including the company’s representatives from Israel, Lebanon, Iran, India, UAE and other territories. All loved the idea of launching a pen dedicated to peace, especially in the turbulent world we live in right now. The peace sign was the obvious starting point.
To celebrate the peace sign and all it symbolises, Montegrappa has created a limited edition to mark the year of its creation, with 1958 pieces each in the formats of fountain pen, rollerball and ballpoint pen. The fountain pen is both cartridge and converter fed, and the nib is made in 18k gold, embellished with the symbolic Dove of peace etching.
Montegrappa has applied the peace symbol to the pen’s cap top and the end of the signature clip, characterised by a sky-blue enamel filling. Surrounding the cap top is a laser-cut stylised pattern of the children holding hands in a circle for peace. Of special significance is the design that decorates the pen’s resin barrel and cap, its subtle meaning recalling the concept that “the pen is mightier than the sword”: engraved in the two sections is the word for “peace” in 15 different languages.
Normal fonts would not suffice. Instead, the Pen of Peace is adorned with exquisitely executed mono-word calligraphic artwork, created especially for Montegrappa by Jake Weidmann, one of the world’s most skilled calligraphers. Montegrappa is delighted to announce that Mr Weidmann will also be part of the official presentation of this exciting writing instruments project.
All 15 languages are highlighted by the Pen of Peace’s unique feature: the body contains a special mechanism fitted with micro-ball bearings that allows the barrel to rotate, so the user can position his or her language of choice at the front of the pen, lining it up with the clip.
This clever device resolved the issue of “Which language should be in the front?” The technical solution devised by Montegrappa pleased all the guests present at its inception, proving that there is always a solution if one really wants to find it, and that Peace is the only answer, as always.

Precisely 20 years after Montegrappa issued the first Cigar edition, Montegrappa has again honored this most elevated form of smoking with a new limited edition. Although tobacco usage has fallen out of favor, cigars remain a guilty pleasure for connoisseurs who appreciate the rich tastes and aromas.
In the modern era, with smoking no longer accepted in public, cigar lovers have formed clubs in major cities. Here, smokers can enjoy cigars in a manner reminiscent of the era of the original oil barons, railway magnates and other captains of industry, for whom cigars were mandatory accessories. Often, the smoking experience is accompanied by a brandy or other tipple. The Cigar Collection: Made in the special Tobacco celluloid, one of the 24 hues Montegrappa boasts in its archives, the Cigar pen resembles the subject with uncanny realism. The color was chosen for its particular combination of light brown with lighter, pearlised streaks that resemble organic tobacco leaves.
Its shape is deceptively simple, just like a cigar, adorned on the outside by the cigar-band in precious metal, declaring the brand and its year of foundation. To maintain the uninterrupted form, the Cigar pen does not feature a pocket clip. In terms of size, too, it is a perfect replica of a real cigar, specifcially a classic model called Laguito n.2 with sizing of 152 mm in length and 15.08 in diameter.
Like an actual cigar, the pen possesses roundish tip to punch and light up. A detail that adds to the cigar smoking- like experience is the fully functional puncher that comes out of the pen cap when the latter is pulled downwards. Montegrappa's Cigar Pen is offered with trim in Sterling Silver or 18k Gold and is available only as a fountain pen or rollerball. The nib of the fountain pen is made of 18k gold, embellished with the Montegrappa filigree pattern. Production is limited to the traditional numbers of Montegrappa: 888 fountain and 888 rollerball pens in Silver. All Cigar pens are housed in special packaging in the shape of a tobacco leaf.

Montegrappa’s most cerebral creation, The Brain Pen, challenged the company’s designers in a way that no other had before: How to embody the intricacy of the most complex organ in the body in a hand-held writing instrument. Montegrappa’s main collaborator and inspirer is, once more, Dr. Richard Restak, who has provided the book, which will accompany each Memory Pen. Visualizing the concepts embodied in his work resulted in a device of which every element, from surface texture to the choice of material, from the chosen color to the engravings, has special significance. Produced in pearlised yellow celluloid, with sterling silver parts. Yellow was chosen because it is the color most associated throughout ages with memory, while the upper part of the Memory Pen’s barrel depicts the different types of long-term memory. These include: Episodic: The memory events that occurred at a specific time or place, such as a birth or wedding. Semantic: That part of the memory, which stores general knowledge. Procedural: Where the memory maintains skills that didn’t involve speech or words. Gracefully embedded within these three divisions on the pen’s barrel are three seals of memory. Triangular shapes are etched upon the circular metal parts, representing the writing of new memories, with the apex pointing downward, or the experiencing of old memories with the apex pointing upward. On the side of the barrel are three compartments representing the past, the present and the future. Complementing this visual representation of memory is the pen’s cap, its seven lower rings representing the average maximum number of items that can be stored in memory at one time. Above that are five thinner rings to denote the five basic senses upon which all memories are created. The brushed steel columns, running vertically within the seven lower rings, are arranged to symbolize the bi-directional flow of information for memory creation or recall, while the neural network – the basis of memory creation or recall, is illustrated by an engraved metal pattern on both barrel and cap. The Fountain Pen is enhanced with an 18kt gold nib available in M, F, and B. Piston fill.

Montegrappa Salutes the Grape Once More… with a Pen to Savour
Montegrappa – Italy’s oldest manufacturer of fine writing instruments – has spent its 104-year span in the heart of grappa country. But before there can be grappa, there must be the presence of one of Italy’s proudest creations: wine. For the last half-century, Italy has added a category of international wines to its traditional greats, that rank with the finest the world can offer. After the runaway success of Montegrappa’s Grappa Pen, constructed from the materials used to distill that enchanting drink, it was apparent that wine, too, deserved a similar “homage”. Made from the oak timber used in wine barrels, with stainless steel metalwork representing the hardware associated with winemaking, the new Tirebouchon pen reflects the materials associated with traditional wine-making. “Tirebouchon” is French for “corkscrew”, and appropriately pays homage to the origins of the grapes that comprise many of the so-called “Super Tuscans”: wines grown in Tuscany but using French varietals associated with the great Bordeaux, along with Sangiovese grapes.
The pen barrel and the cap are wine-barrel-shaped, with metal rings to represent those bands that hold the wooden staves in place. The pocket clip evokes clusters of grapes on the vine, made in palladium-plated sterling silver. Inset into the cap’s top is an engraving of a grape leaf. The fountain pen nib is made of solid 18kt gold and is embellished with the octagonal pattern that serves as Montegrappa’s motif, available in M, F and B. Hidden inside the pen body under the cap is a foldable corkscrew – fully functional and extremely strong, and a registered, proprietary design. Because of the space it occupies, the Tirebouchon fountain pen is fitted with only one ink-cartridge, while the refill of the rollerball is mini-size. Strictly limited to only 100 fountain pens and 100 rollerball pens, Tirebouchon should be regarded as one would regard a once-in-a-lifetime vintage. Like a fine wine that improves with age, the real wood construction will acquire its own unique patina. Here, then, is a pen to savour.

Launched at Baselworld 2015, Q1 is Montegrappa’ s most bold statement yet of its commitment to broadening the notion of a modern fountain pen. Though created without a precedent, the Q1 pen joins Montegrappa’ s Cult Collection for it intrinsically embodies the concept of “cult” in its definition beyond “a special interest group or sect.” In this context, Q1 creates its own following, for its concept and appeal reflect wholly original thinking and practice. The Montegrappa Q1 respects no boundaries. It is unashamedly modernist, and yet its roots are in the venerable art of handwriting and drawing. No space-age feeder system nor trick cartridge: Q1 is boldly and emphatically a fountain pen, and only a fountain pen. It embraces the most fluid and elegant form of writing instrument yet devised, but one with history. The revolutionary aspect of Q1 is its presentation in a truly radical form, with features not found before in a pen. A mere glance informs the observer – both pen enthusiast and casual onlooker – that this pen is special, original, ground-breaking. Its appeal is unapologetically masculine, yet its functionality is unisexual, for it boasts an amazing choice of materials and design, with the convenience of interchangeable colours. Above all, it is a technological statement, an advance on all pens that came before it. Q1 draws its design inspirations from the fascinating world of firearms, exercised in a manner that shares a “steampunk” sensibility with Montegrappa’ s “Grappa” pen, also in the Cult Collection. While the purpose of weapons is combative, their construction and aesthetic have always been a product of function, allied to standards of manufacturing quality, materials and finish that have been emulated by car makers, camera designers and now, by a pen producer. Fusion is the key, with Q1 marrying ultra-tough and hard titanium for the pen’s barrel with titanium and fine Italian leather for the pen cap, Stainless steel has been employed for the internal parts of the pen, while tradition demands that an 18K gold nib with filigree Montegrappa logo is fitted at the writing end. A plethora of intriguing technical details ensure that the user will return again and again to the Q1 to discover fresh features. The Montegrappa octagonal pattern on both leather and titanium creates a contrasting surface with a different tactility to that of the matte-finish barrel. The cap locks onto the barrel with a slot-and-pin system reminiscent of a gun scope or camera lens. The arched pocket clip features the signature ball end-piece for smooth ingress and egress to and from pockets. Q1 is the fruit of two years research, which culminated in the invention of a unique multiple cartridge loading system. This system makes it possible for the Q1 pen to write with several ink colors by changing four different cartridges. The mechanism, similar to the one of a bullet cylinder in a gun, is contained entirely inside the pen barrel and is the subject of a registered industrial patent. Q1 will be produced in an edition of only 100 pieces, and will be available only in a fountain pen mode. Appropriately, the Q1’s packaging is as exclusive as the fountain pen itself. Inspired by the robustness and functionality of an ammunition case, the chest is made of wood, with soft lining to protect the contents. It is fitted with a number of compartments to accommodate both the pen and its accessories, including auxiliary hardware for its continued maintenance: a pair of gloves, a set of tissues and spare ink cartridges.
A final element of the Q1 experience is the inclusion of a syringe, specifically supplied for the cleaning of the feeder from the ink color last used, when changing the cartridge for a different color. This attention to detail befits a pen that breaks the rules, while defining new ones.

Bassano del Grappa: VIVA LA GRAPPA!
Both the historic traditions of the renowned distillate “grappa”- an Italian specialty that nowadays has devotees all over the world, and the aesthetic of steampunk, have inspired and influenced the design of the latest addition to Montegrappa’s Cult collection. This incredible writing instrument also serves as homage to Bassano del Grappa – the town Montegrappa calls home, which is one of the major producers of this refined liquor. The “grappa” distinct personality is defined by the type and quality of the grapes used, as well as the distillation process or “secret recipe.” As proof of grappa’s ascension to the ranks of chic liquors, many of Italy’s finest wine producers now bottle their own “grappa”, including the “Super Tuscans” Sassicaia and Tignanello. There can be no higher accolade. Grappa tastings begin with young grappa, then continue with cask-conditioned and aromatic grappa and finish with aromatised grappa. Previously unimaginable, grappa is now as complex a subject as wine. A culture of grappa devotees ensure that it will forever retain its new and lofty status.
The Grappa Pens
The materials used in the pens’ manufacture, reminiscent of the distilling vessels, include stainless steel, brass and copper for the cap and barrel, employed in the manner of the actual equipment’s construction. Montegrappa’s technicians executed hand-applied hammering techniques on the copper components, while tiny screws – both functional and ornamental – remind the user of the technological inspiration of the product. Even the pocket clip continues the grappa-making theme, formed to recall the copper tubing used in the distilling process.
Exquisite touches of detail are found at both ends of this remarkable writing instrument. Inserted into the top of the cap is a disc made of real cork as used in a grappa bottle top, beneath a filigree-cut octagonal grid recalling Montegrappa’s eight-sided symbol. Having been dipped in aged grappa, the cork emanates scents of grappa. Lastly, the 18kt gold duotone nib is embellished with a bunch of grapes on the vine. Production is limited to 1912 for the fountain pen with both cartridge and converter feeders) and 1912 for the rollerball, the given number denotes the year of establishment of the Montegrappa company. Embracing the spirit of grappa and its life-enhancing properties, the Grappa Pens arrive in special packaging not unlike the presentation of an actual bottle of the liquor. The pen comes in a blown glass bottle with a large globe base, made by local artisans, bearing the Montegrappa coat of arms in metallic finish.

Occupying the 7th position in the Chinese Zodiac, the Horse’s fixed element is fire. The spirit of the horse is recognized as a crucial element of the Chinese people’s ethos: a quest for constant self-improvement. Those born in the Year of the Horse are intelligent, energetic, warm-hearted and able. Their ingenious communicating techniques, their delight in the limelight and a desire to entertain are embodied in such ‘Horse’ superstars as Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand, Jackie Chan, Harrison Ford and Paul McCartney.
Although occasionally boisterous, they are cheerful, talented and perceptive, and down-to-earth, if stubborn. Horses are popular among friends, enthusiastic in their chosen fields and do not accept failure. Often impatient, they are devoted to their careers, and exhibit independence and … impatience. The Horse possesses great endurance but a short temper, can be flamboyant and may inhabit a world of glamour and celebrity.
The Montegrappa Horse 2014 writing instruments are fashioned from black resin and are decorated with stunning die-cast overlays in solid sterling silver. The overlay portrays a horse in a lifelike and lively stance. The cylindrical cap in black resin is fitted with solid sterling silver trim, with the pocket clip featuring Montegrappa’s rotating sphere.
The fountain pen boasts an ebonite feeder, 18kt gold nib and a cartridge/converter filling system.
All pieces are numbered in a limited edition of only 888 fountain pens and 888 rollerball pens in sterling silver.

Montegrappa is proud to announce the officially-authorized pen collection honoring the legendary musician, Quincy Jones. As jazzy in appearance as the subject requires, the limited edition Quincy Jones Fountain Pen features his personal logo in the top of the cap, an engraved, color-enhanced “Q”. The textured barrel in black carbon is accented in the middle and at both ends with bold, multi-colored resin rings in a marble pattern. The sleek, modernist, arched pocket clip is made of brass, terminating in Montegrappa’s rolling-ball end-piece to facilitate easy pocket ingress and egress. In keeping with the wholly musical theme, the end of the barrel is finished with a sculpted loudspeaker cone. The solid 18kt gold nib carries his signature on the fountain pen. The fountain pen is cartridge/converter fill. Montegrappa will produce a limited edition of each writing mode of 1933 pieces in carbon fiber. The Marker accepts a Sharpie style marker. This legendary American record producer, conductor, arranger, composer, television and film producer, record company executive, magazine founder, trumpeter, author and humanitarian has played a key role in the development of modern music, across more genres and media than any other musical icon, for more than 60 years. It would be achievement enough for any individual to have earned prominence in that many roles in a single musical genre. Quincy Jones, whose eclecticism has been expressed in pop, rock, soul, funk, hip-hop, jazz, classical and ethnic genres including African and Brazilian music, resulting in hybrids of his own creation. His sheer mastery of musical forms has been demonstrated within clearly-defined, seemingly restrictive disciplines, through his award-winning scores and soundtracks for both cinema and television – breaking down barriers for both. Quincy Jones’ artistry has been applied to virtually every medium, including records, live performance, movies and television, and print publishing.
Quincy Jones is the all-time most nominated Grammy artist, with a total of 79 Grammy nominations, and the winner of 27 Grammys.

Italians’ love for opera is unmatched by their other musical passions. It is the genre closest to their hearts because it embodies so many Italian qualities, not least a desire to express the deepest, most heartfelt emotions. Flamboyant, tempestuous, joyous: opera is Italy’s soul transformed into sound. To celebrate this most elegant and noble of art forms, born in Italy at the end of the 16th Century, Montegrappa pays tribute much-loved operas through the “Emozioni in Musica” collection of writing instruments. Previously-released pens in the series have honoured La Traviata and Il Barbiere di Siviglia. The third to be celebrated by Montegrappa is Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto, an opera in three acts. With an eye to the spirit of the eponymous player that it commemorates, the design of the Rigoletto pen immediately recalls the attire of the traditional court jester, a harlequin pattern of red, white and black diamond shapes that can be attributed to no other character. The body and the all-red cap are made of resin, the body itself requiring the use of the diffusion bonding technique to create its mosaic effect. All trims are made of solid silver or solid gold, according to the model. A handmade black and red glass “murrina” on top of the red cap was inspired by the puffy sleeves and pantaloons that comprise a harlequin’s garb, while the pocket clip is styled in the manner of the jester’s footwear. Engraved into the ring that secures the pocket clip is a pattern that recalls the “skirt” favoured by jesters, with triangular extensions ending in little bells. For the ring encircling the body, where the threads appear, Montegrappa’s artisans have etched a pattern to denote the type of belt worn by a jester. Montegrappa’s logo is engraved around the wide ring at the bottom of the cap. The Limited Edition of Montegrappa “Emozioni in Musica” Rigoletto consisting of sterling silver and solid 18k yellow gold versions. In both models, the fountain pen nibs are fashioned from solid 18k gold. The Limited Edition is comprised of only 900 fountain pens and 900 rollerballs with sterling silver trim, and 30 fountain pens and 21 roller balls with solid 18K gold trim, for a total of 1851 pens.

Few are the intellectual giants who qualify for recognition in Montegrappa*s most exclusive range of Genio Creativo writing instruments. To date only two individuals: Antonio Stradivari (in 2007), and the remarkable painter and sculptor, Amedeo Modigliani (in 2008) have been honored. The third creative genius in Montegrappa*s roster of peerless artists is Salvador Dalí, a visionary who personified surrealism, who was also a writer, filmmaker and designer – truly the 20th Century equivalent of a ‘Renaissance Man’. Blessed not only with technical skills and talent but also with a unique visual sense, Dalí produced a number of significant works so original and startling that they have entered the global consciousness. Among the most famous are *The Persistence of Memory*, the universally familiar surrealistic landscape of soft, melting pocket watches painted in 1931, and his 1944 work, *Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening*. It is the latter painting that has inspired the Montegrappa designers to devise a pen worthy of Dalí*s vision and it was the first of a number of works to contain a form (an Elephant), which would become a recurring image in Dalí's work.
Amongst other adaptations, in his paintings Dalí took Bernini’s elephant and, with his inimitable sense of proportion, stretched its legs to unreal lengths.
Montegrappa has transformed these noble beasts, portrayed with long, multi-jointed, almost invisible legs of desire along with obelisks on their backs, into miniature manifestations of Dalí*s art. On the Dalí pen, the elephant embraces a barrel of Mediterranean blue celluloid for the sterling silver edition. When the pen is opened, a quote from the autobiography *The Secret Life of Salvador Dalí* is inscribed on the sterling silver inner barrel.
Montegrappa has issued only 1000 sterling silver fountain pens and 989 rollerball pens, denoting 1989 – the year that Dalí died. The fountain pen is enhanced with an 18kt gold nib, cartridge/converter fill.
This project has been supervised and licensed by the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, the cultural institution created and run by Salvador Dalí himself until he died. The Kingdom of Spain, Dalí*s universal heir, granted the Fundació exclusive power to manage Salvador Dalí*s estate, both material and intellectual property rights. For its contribution to the project, Mr. Joan Manuel Sevillano, Managing Director of the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí says, *For our Foundation, the respect for the work of Salvador Dalí is of utmost importance. We have found in Montegrappa the perfect partner to carry out this project, with the attention and care it merits.*

Working with no less an authority on cerebral matters than Dr. Richard Restak, M.D., Montegrappa releases one of the most ambitious pens in its illustrious history. The Brain Pen is the result of extensive collaboration with Dr. Restak, the author of more than 20 books on the subject. Among his many positions are those of Clinical Professor of Neurology at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and residencies at Mount Sinai Hospital, Georgetown University Hospital and George Washington Hospital.
To create a pen that represents the complexities of the very organ it celebrates, Montegrappa*s designers drew inspiration from the brain itself. The link between the brain and the pen, with the act and art of writing serving as an extension of man*s ability to express himself while exercising the brain itself, encouraged Montegrappa to illustrate this direct intellectual and physical connection. Emblematic of this is the contrast present in the pen*s most basic structural elements: the top part of the pen is rich and elaborate, while the body is simple, acting as a parallel to a human*s body, where all the riches are in the brain. Adorning the top of cap is a cross-section of the brain, based on an ancient illustration. The cap features an overlay made up of neurons, with the pocket clip representing the spinal cord. The clip has a spring-loaded mechanism and its tip is lacquered in red or black, to differentiate the fountain pen from the rollerball.
Etched into the nib is the image of a sea-horse. This refers to the hippocampus, which is a major component of the brain of humans and other vertebrates. It belongs to the limbic system and plays an important role in the consolidation of information from short-term memory to long-term memory and spatial navigation.
The Brain Pen limited edition consists of: 1012 silver fountain pens, being the number of neurons in the human brain, which are estimated to be between 10 raised to the 12th power or 10 raised to the 13th power; and 900 silver rollerball pens, as the number of neurotransmitter (messenger) molecules released by a single synaptic vesicle is 900.
Accompanying every Brain Pen is a copy of a book written especially for Montegrappa by Dr. Restak.

He is known by many names: The Dark Knight. The Caped Crusader. The World*s Greatest Detective. He has reached the public through blockbuster movies, TV shows, video games, cartoons and millions upon millions of comics. Whatever the medium, Batman is proof you don't need superpowers to be a superhero...and the poster boy for what a bad childhood can do to you. Millionaire Bruce Wayne was just a kid when he watched his parents gunned down during a mugging in Gotham City. The crime would define his life, as he dedicated himself to becoming the world*s greatest weapon against crime: the Batman. Forget his Batarangs, Batmobile, or Utility Belt filled with high-tech weapons. Batman is the most feared superhero of all because he has pushed himself to the absolute pinnacle of human achievement. He is a brilliant detective who has mastered fighting techniques from the familiar to the esoteric. An Olympic-calibre athlete with a plan for every occasion and a solution for every problem, Batman seems always to be five steps ahead of his foes. But in his crusade against injustice, two questions always loom: How far will he go to protect the innocent, and will he sacrifice his humanity along the way? For over 70 years, this double conundrum has kept readers and viewers glued to pages and screens. Appropriately, there are 1939 Batman fountain pens and 1939 Batman rollerballs, the number signifying the year of his first appearance. All of the pens components are made of aluminum with a black anodized finish, except for clip and decorative rings, which are fashioned from ruthenium-plated brass. This choice of materials provides the pens with a dark gray hue evoking the color of Batman*s original costume. Its surfaces are engraved with bats in flight. The fountain pen terminates in a two-tone rhodium plated 18kt gold nib bearing the celebrated bat logo.
In addition to the individual pens, there are 500 sets that also include cufflinks and a wristwatch. These are exclusive to the box sets. The cufflinks are jet-black representations of the Batman logo in three dimension, with the bat shape cut out to expose a surface of carbon fibre. The folding grip carries the Montegrappa name. Based on the Montegrappa NeroUno watches, the matching wristwatch is powered by a Swiss-made Ronda quartz movement, housed in a 42mm stainless steel case secure against water ingress to 5atm. The case is finished in black PVD, with six screws securing the back. Embodying all of the mystery that has kept the Caped Crusader*s followers fascinated for over 70 years, the wristwatch is finished in black, with the flying bats pattern found on the pen traversing the bezel and the dial. At the 12 oclock position is the oval Batman logo in nickel, as are the numerals at the 3, 6 and 9 o*clock positions, the dot markers for the remaining hours, and the curved blade hands for the hours and minutes. A sapphire crystal protects the all-black dial and its nickel embellishments. The back is engraved with the Batman logo and the relevant serial numbers. Attaching the watch to the wrist is a carbon strap with a black PVD tongue buckle.

We are pleased to introduce the new Twelve Tribes of Israel Limited Edition Fountain Pen that was developed by Montegrappa exclusively for their Russian distributor Gourji known for their luxury jewelry products sold throughout Russia. To create the pen, the designers have hand painted their inspiration, drawn from a mosaic in one of the Jerusalem synagogues. It features the symbolic images of the progenitors of the 12 Israelite tribes.
The edition consists of a total of 111 pens (fountain pens and rollerballs combined, in both language versions). The design available in North America is done exclusively in the Hebrew language, as opposed to the version offered in Russia which is done in Russian & Hebrew.
Placed in the centre of the fountain pen’s silver band in the middle of the barrel, is the star of David, (the Magen David or Shield of David), an ancient emblem in the form of a six-pointed star, that, as the legend goes, used to adorn the shields of King David*s warriors. The 18kt Medium width gold nib is embellished with the image of a menorah, a seven-branched candelabrum, one of the most important emblems of Judaism. The box reproduces a fragment of the wall mosaic from Givat Mordechai synagogue in Jerusalem depicting the Twelve Tribes of Israel.
The fountain pen is cartridge/converter fill.

To pay tribute to Frank Sinatra, Montegrappa has fashioned pens that, from cap to tip, are imbued with several distinctive elements that signify Sinatra*s remarkable life and career. At the working end, the grip section of each pen bears a musical staff and a G-clef. The barrels and caps of each pen are finished to resemble the fabric of a sharp pin-striped suit, while the ends of each cap are engraved with the fedora logo used today by Frank Sinatra Enterprises to identify authorized Sinatra items and suggestive of the signature style of hat that Sinatra wore and made famous. The fountain pens in the series have blue accents in a nod to *Ol' Blue Eyes*, while the rollerballs bear orange accents reflective of Sinatra*s favourite colour. The pocket clips for each pen are carved in the shape of a classic microphone. A total of 1,915 fountain pens and 1,915 rollerballs will be released, each in resin with sterling silver trim, to honour the year Frank Sinatra was born (1915).

Montegrappa's *Icons* series of writing instruments pays tribute to cultural giants, regardless of the fields in which their character and achievements lifted them to global awareness. The newest in the series honors both an individual who features prominently in any list of the 20th Century’s strongest, most influential personalities, as well as a milestone in Montegrappa*s illustrious history. Combining the two has resulted in a commemorative pen of significance and resonance. For the second pen in the Icons series, Montegrappa has chosen a person who – through the media of film – embodied all that is noble in the martial arts. At the same time, he opened the West to the disciplines of the East, while helping to establish martial arts films outside of Hong Kong, a genre that remains globally popular 37 years after his death. On the 70th Anniversary of his birth, Montegrappa is pleased to pay homage to the legendary Bruce Lee.Lee endeared himself to audiences as a role model who revered Chinese culture. In 1999, TIME Magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century. Lee was known as the *Dragon* having been born on the day and in the hour of the Dragon in the Chinese horoscope. The image of the dragon was utilized by Montegrappa in 1995 and is reinterpreted on this special edition, with both the cap and barrel embraced by exquisitely carved sterling dragons. The piston-filled fountain pen is enhanced with an 18 kt gold nib featuring the profile of Bruce lee in a most famous position-- foot and fist extended, suspended in air.

Two legendary Italian brands are nearing their centenaries. It is thus both fitting and timely that Montegrappa, which has been producing superior fountain pens and writing instruments in the same factory since 1912, has been chosen to produce the centenary pen for Alfa Romeo, born in 1910. Italian qualities unite the two companies, both sharing the values that define Italian spirit, tradition and innovation. Another, almost transcendent quality unites them in that both companies have always insisted that their creations possess an elegance, a form that respects the function. The first fruit of this new partnership is an elegant pen that embodies the essence of Alfa Romeo*s history and prestige. The series created by the Bassano master craftsmen for this important anniversary celebrates and honours the glorious car manufacturer in each and every design detail. The date on which the Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili was founded – 24th June 1910 – is referred to by the number of pens produced in this limited edition series. Montegrappa has crafted a total of 246 celluloid and silver fountain pens. The exquisite artistic designs etched in low-relief on the body of the sterling silver version are inspired by the stylistic elements on the evocative Alfa Romeo logo (the Visconti snake, badge and vintage logo). The brand also appears in relief on the top of the cap, while the classic Alfa four-leaf clover is etched on the 18kt, two-tone gold nib, which is partially rhodium-plated. The nib feeder is made from ebonite, proving that even the parts hidden from the eye are selected and crafted with the utmost attention to detail. Cartridge/converter fill.
Even the packaging confirms the elegance and sophistication of these unique writing instruments, which have such a refined, distinctive design. Each pen comes with its own exclusive eco-leather case, with a pen pouch and an international guarantee certifying the research, passion and pure brilliance of the craftsmen who have produced this commemorative line for Alfa Romeo.

Starting out from a sculpture patiently and meticulously made by hand by an artist over a period of months, the writing instrument – an authentic work of art – is produced with precious metals using the lost wax casting technique and later finished by hand. In honour of the year that Montegrappa was established, this limited collection is composed of 1,912 pieces: 1,000 fountain pens and 880 rollerball pens in silver and lacquer, and 32 fountain pens in a more precious 18-karat gold and lacquer version. Venice is an incredibly alluring city with a fascinating history. It was established in 421 by people living on the mainland area of the Veneto region who laid the foundations of what is considered one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Saint Mark’s Basilica is one of Venice’s most fascinating architectural monuments. Consecrated in 1094, it is certainly the most famous example of Byzantine architecture in Italy. It was a symbol of the Venetian Republic’s maritime, mercantile, and artistic importance, and its lavishness was the result of an incredible number of treasures that were spoils of war. Due to its uniqueness and beauty, Saint Mark’s Basilica is the star of this collection. Several details of its distinctive architecture can be seen, such as the four magnificent horses above the main entrance and the typical rosettes on its façade. The cap top is decorated with a die-cast lion, inspired by one of the centuries-old symbols of Saint Mark. The refined clip design is enhanced with a distinctive rotating sphere. The lacquer cap and barrel tip are in Venetian red to represent the strength and wealth of one of the most fascinating maritime republics.

The Montegrappa ICON series pays tribute to cultural giants. Launching the series is the man who revolutionized boxing on every level: Muhammad Ali. His talent, his skill and the path of his career introduced monumental changes to the sport, and the way it is perceived. Born Cassius Clay in 1942, the young Ali won numerous titles as an amateur, reaching international prominence with the Light Heavyweight Gold Medal in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. Before the age of 18, his record was 127 wins with five losses. As a professional boxer, Ali shattered stereotypes, his stance and speed serving him in a way not typical of heavyweights. With his good looks and unparalleled gracefulness, allied to quick wit and verbal dexterity that would inspire rappers a generation later, Muhammad Ali created not just an enviable record in the ring – he extended his influence beyond the arena. His stance against the Vietnam War, his conversion to Islam, his litany of eminently-repeatable quotes, his comebacks: Muhammad Ali became a cultural force beyond the confines of sport. In terms of his impact as a notable personality of the 20th Century, he ranks as an icon of the highest standing and influence. To reflect elements of his varied, eventful career, Montegrappa has integrated a number of characteristic details into this Tribute to Muhammad Ali Pen. The 18 kt gold nib sports the *raised arms* silhouette of the victorious boxer. Finished in white pearlized resin with a black stripe running its length, the barrel bears the colours of his boxing shorts. In order to achieve the desired black-and-white effect, Montegrappa employs a state-of-the-art material with unique properties. These include half the weight of glass of the same thickness, excellent optical clarity and light transmission properties, the ability to withstand temperature extremes at different altitudes and superb flexural strength for superior resistance to breakage. Equally important, as the writer enjoys physical contact with the pen, the material also proves warm to the touch. The end of the barrel completes the look with two circumferential black stripes, as found at the tops of Ali*s socks. The rolling ball pocket clip takes the shape of the stitching on Ali*s boxing gloves. The cap profile follows the arc of a speed bag, while the end of the cap is shaped in the cushion form of the World Championship diamond-encrusted ring worn by Ali and his corner team. Lastly, the cap incorporates the great man's signature, in black, with the legend *The Greatest of All Time*. 1942 is the year of his birth. He fought 61 fights. He won 56. His wins by knockout numbered 37. Guided by these figures, Montegrappa has issued 1942 fountain pens and 1942 rollerballs with sterling silver trims; 61 fountain pens with solid gold trims and 56 rollerballs with solid gold trims. Also available will be ana 37 pen *knock-out* edition, solid gold-trimmed and set with diamonds in the cap*s end-piece, each bearing a number corresponding to a specific opponent and fight, engraved with the fighter*s name, as well as the date and location of the event. Muhammad Ali has summed up, with his characteristic mix of modesty and boastfulness, the contribution to global culture that defines his place in the ICONS series: *I'll tell you how I*d like to be remembered: as a black man who won the heavyweight title, who was humorous and treated everyone right, as a man who never looked down on those who looked up to him, a man who stood for freedom, justice and equality, and I wouldn*t even mind if folks forgot how pretty I was.* The fountain pen is cartridge/converter fill.

Paulo Coelho is not only one of the most widely read, but also one of the most influential authors writing today. This Brazilian author has dedicated his life completely to literature. His book -The Alchemist- is one of the most important literary phenomena of the 20th century. It reached first place in bestseller lists in 74 countries, and has sold over 35 million copies, being the most translated book in the world (67 languages). As per Coelho…the pen is a musical instrument , and its sound can be heard when it touches the paper. Honoring Paulo Coelho is this unique limited edition of 1947 pieces (1000 fountain pens and 947 rollerballs), being the year of his birth, in sterling silver with emeralds, made using the fretwork technique that accentuates the refined contrast between the lustrous sterling silver and the black resin, with mother-of-pearl effect. The barrel of the writing instrument was inspired by Coelho’s pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, which was a remarkable moment of his life. The two emeralds mark the beginning and end locations of the pilgrimage. The route is traced by refined black lacquer.

The year of an epic crossing, conquest of unexplored land, and California dreams was 1849, the beginning of the Gold Rush. The prospectors, who would be known as '49ers, set off from every imaginable point on the American continent, traveling from the far East to the new West with hopes for adventure and wealth. Montegrappa captures this mass exodus in low relief engraving on precious sterling silver: Proceeding from the end of the barrel towards the cap, images of the pioneers' wagon trains give way to gold prospectors with their panning sieves followed by the gradual colonisation of California, the construction of gold mines, and the building of the railway. The end cap, junctions, and panels are all made smooth and rich with precious blue resin. Underneath the cap you'll find an 18k gold nib with exclusive Montegrappa ebonite feed on the piston-filled fountain pen. Presented in a maple wood box decorated with a limited edition silver plate.

In 1995, Montegrappa launched “The Dragon” , one of the maker’s most important Limited Editions above all among the exigent collector’s market. In 2005, Montegrappa launches “Eternal Bird”… the female part of the Dragon. The pairing of the Eternal Bird with its companion Dragon is underlined in numerous analogies: style and dimension of the pen, the same artist’s hand and a precious inkwell in a very Limited Edition.
In creating the image of the Phoenix, the artist has been inspired by a Chinese painting of the 12th century preserved in the National Museum in Beijing where the immortal bird appears. The sculpted figure along the body and cap represents a Phoenix, a mythological bird gifted of extraordinary powers who has counterparts in different cultures. According to every culture, this beautiful and colored bird is identified with the sun and is a symbol of power and prosperity. The sculpture is executed using the exclusive technique of die-casting. Precise copies of the original sculpture made by the artist’s hand are cast in sterling silver or 18kt yellow gold and then hand finished by the master jewelers of Montegrappa and applied to the red celluloid body and cap of the pen.
The fountain pen is enhanced with a distinctive 18kt gold nib and is available in M, F, XF, B. Piston Fill.
